About Franchise Lab

Franchise Lab is a free sports gaming platform built for real fans who want to go deeper than box scores. Draft all-time rosters, simulate full seasons, test your sports knowledge, and compete on a global leaderboard โ€” all from your browser, no download required.

What Is Franchise Lab?

Franchise Lab started with one simple question: what if you could draft the greatest players in sports history and see how far they could go? From that idea grew a full collection of sports simulation games spanning the NBA, MLB, and NFL โ€” each designed to reward genuine sports knowledge and strategic thinking.

The games are free to play, work on any device, and are built with real historical statistics. Every roster you draft is evaluated using actual career stats, era adjustments, and team balance formulas โ€” so the results reflect real sporting merit, not random luck.

Our Games

๐Ÿ† 82-0 Challenge โ€” NBA

Draft an all-time NBA roster by spinning random teams and decades. Pick the best player from each combination and try to simulate a perfect 82-game season. Can you go undefeated? No team in NBA history ever has.

๐Ÿ† 162-0 Challenge โ€” MLB

Build an all-time MLB lineup across different eras โ€” from the 1950s to the present โ€” and simulate a full 162-game season. Three modes: all-time draft, one-franchise challenge, and choose-your-era single season draft.

๐Ÿ† 17-0 Challenge โ€” NFL

Draft an all-time NFL roster from any team and decade in history, then try to go a perfect 17-0 through the regular season. Elite rosters with multiple MVPs and Pro Bowlers give you the best shot at perfection.

๐ŸŽฐ Spin Challenge

Spin through five random teams from any sport. Draft the best player from each team and try to hit the statistical target. A new challenge every session โ€” great for quick play.

๐Ÿง  Sports Trivia

Multiple-choice trivia across NBA, MLB, and NFL with four difficulty levels โ€” from easy fan questions to expert-level records and obscure historical facts. Ten questions per round, compete on the global leaderboard.

๐Ÿงฉ Name 'Em All

Type player names from memory before time runs out. How many all-time greats, hall of famers, and legends can you recall? A timed challenge that tests the depth of your sports knowledge.

๐Ÿ“Š Stat Stack

Spin through all-time players and assign each to a statistical category. The goal: build the lineup with the lowest combined rank score. Strategic drafting wins โ€” not just picking the biggest names.

How the Simulations Work

Franchise Lab uses a statistical simulation engine built on real historical data. Player performance is calculated using their actual career statistics โ€” passing yards, home runs, points per game, and more โ€” adjusted for the era they played in. Players from the 1970s and 1980s receive slight statistical adjustments to account for differences in how the game was played, rule changes, and the expansion of teams.

Team strength in the simulation is calculated from three factors: overall statistical output (how good your players' stats are), roster balance (whether your team is well-rounded or top-heavy), and star power (All-Star selections and MVP awards). A team with multiple Hall of Famers but weak depth will be strong but vulnerable โ€” just like in real sports.

Win probability per game is calculated from team strength, with elite rosters reaching roughly 85โ€“90% win probability per game. Even the greatest possible roster can't guarantee a perfect season โ€” replicating the challenge that no real team has ever achieved.

Global Leaderboard

Every completed game submits a normalized score to our global leaderboard, powered by Firebase. Scores are normalized across all game types so a great MLB trivia score can be compared fairly to a great NBA draft simulation result. The leaderboard tracks daily, weekly, monthly, and all-time rankings.

You can play as a guest (your scores are saved to your device) or set a custom display name to appear on the global rankings. Your rank is calculated from real game data โ€” not seeded or simulated results.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Franchise Lab free to play?

Yes, all games on Franchise Lab are completely free. No account is required, no download is needed. Just open the site in any browser and start playing.

Do I need to create an account?

No account is required. You can play as a guest and your scores are saved to your device automatically. If you want your name to appear on the global leaderboard, you can set a display name from the leaderboard page โ€” no email or password needed.

How are player stats sourced?

Player statistics are compiled from historical sports records spanning 1950 to 2025. Stats are organized by decade and team, reflecting each player's performance during a specific period with a specific franchise. Era adjustments are applied to normalize performance across different eras of the game.

Why can't I find a specific player?

The player database includes athletes who met minimum statistical thresholds โ€” enough playing time and production to be meaningfully compared to others at their position. Fringe players and those with very limited careers may not appear. If you think someone is missing who should be there, let us know.

What devices does Franchise Lab support?

Franchise Lab works on any modern device with a web browser โ€” desktop, tablet, and mobile. The games are optimized for both touch and keyboard/mouse input. An internet connection is required for leaderboard features, but core gameplay works offline.
